A peaceful heart is the product
of right living.
We cannot cling to a thing
that is wrong in our life and
expect to have peace in our hearts.

Many of us desire the peace that surpasses
understanding,
but cannot achieve it because we harbour something
that is not in God's will for us.
To be honest enough to face everything in our lives,
even those things which aren't quite clean and pure,
is the first step.

To completely surrender those shady items to God,
in order to live in His will,
is the second step.
Peace which can never be shaken,
taken from us or lost
will be the Lord's gift to us

Peace is not plenty,
not joy,
not a loving emotion.
It is not strength in crisis,
not certainty in thought and action.
It is not freedom from doubt and despair.
It is not a contemplative spirit or an
abundance of charisma
or supernatural wisdom

God's gift of peace undergirds all these,
shines at the core of our living,
moving and being and provides
the solid foundation of unity
with Him upon which we build
all that we think and do and feel,
every way in which we act and react

If we do not have peace in our hearts,
we cannot draw close to God.
If we have His peace,
an endless spiritual journey toward Him
opens before us

Peace I leave with
you,
My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives,
do I give to you
